Building Permits and Compliance Office
The Building Permit and Compliance Office handles several different areas involving construction of new residential and commercial projects along with ensuring properties remain in compliance with the Wood County Dilapidated and Abandoned Building Ordinance. In addition, this office is the first stop to apply for permits for construction in a Floodplain and to answer questions relating to the National Flood Insurance Program. Through our simplified process, we strive to keep Wood County buildings safe, healthy and esthetically appealing.

In addition, our office serves as the Risk Management Office for the county, ensuring that all Wood County buildings are safe for public use as well as for county employees.
Our staff also administers the Wood County Solid Waste Authority, which is under a separate and independent Board of Directors. We are responsible to regulate certain aspects of area landfills, ensure trash haulers are providing the required services, and most importantly, to encourage recycling through education and public information programs throughout our county. Our goal is to recycle every item that may be remanufactured in an effort to add years of use to our existing landfill.
